    Note the device on the nose, cleverly covered with a grapefruit juice can. This was the Navy's first gunship with night vision. The camera can look down and backwards.

    This was a TV camera, coupled with a starlight scope. The Huey with this gear usually followed behind the lead ship, completely blacked out. When enemy fired at lead ship, this Huey would return fire with great stealth and precision.

    The long slender tubes fire 2.75" rockets, each with the explosive power of a 105 mm Howitzer round. Outboard of the 7-tube rocket launcher is a 7.62 mm, six-barrel "mini-gun". Note the snake-like metal ammo-feed carrier running from the cabin to the gun. On the other side of the aircraft is an identical rocket launcher/minigun mount. The guns swivel, and can shoot down and rearward. The TV camera on the nose was capable of looking "down and back...

    Again, note the snake-like ammo-feed carrier in the lower right corner. These guns fired too fast for manual feeding. Note the extra gun barrels on the deck. Also, note the ever-present M-60 machine gun on top of the ammo cans
